Ohio CEO splits $1.6M stock market gain with company employees during coronavirus outbreak

“Action speaks louder than words but not nearly as often.”

Mark Twain

The CEO of Connor Group, Larry Connor, made $1.6 million in the stock market and decided to share it amongst his 400 employees. This gives each employee a bonus ranging from $2000 to $9000.

Dayton based Connor Group is a real-estate investment company that owns and operates luxury apartment communities in multiple cities across the United States of America.

Connor said, “Two of our key core values are, do the right thing and people count, so when I was fortunate enough to make $1.6 million in a matter of days, yeah, I was really happy about it, but it didn’t feel exactly right.”

The employees within the company have been working during the coronavirus pandemic. Larry Connor said that his employees have “really moved into action” during the coronavirus outbreak so this helped push this decision forward.

“In my view, during this crisis, we’re all in this together and people need to help other people,”

Brittany Newton, a Connor Group employee, said, “To me, this is such a blessing. Knowing that I work for a company that lives, truly, the core values of ‘do the right thing,’ ‘people count’ and taking care of its staff and its residents and its customers and all of its employees, just truly makes a difference.”

She says that now she has weight lifted off her shoulders and can plan to financially help her family.

Pedro Ducos, another employee, was grateful, saying, “I’m just really blessed and excited to be receiving this.”

Connor also said, “In my opinion, in any endeavor, any organization, the number one key to success is people, and so you can’t just say that, you need to take actions. Leadership, I think, especially in these kinds of times matters, and so you need to lead from the front. In our view, we’re an essential business. We think we can do anything, we can do the impossible, but only with our people.”

“I hope I’ve demonstrated my belief and appreciation,” Connor said.
